Design Thinking

Make meaning

From my graduate studies at the Rhode Island School of Design, I gained invaluable insights from Professor Tom Ockerse, a leading authority in the field. His teachings illuminated the intricate study of signs and symbols and their profound role in communication through visual design. This understanding fundamentally shapes my approach, allowing me to imbue each design with layers of meaning and significance.

Kunstgewerbeschule

My journey began in my early deejay days, where I found myself captivated by the allure of album covers from iconic labels like 4AD and Factory Records. Delving deeper into the creative scene, I drew inspiration from 80s 'zines such as The Face, Interview, and Details magazine. These influences propelled me towards a functional design aesthetic rooted in Bauhaus principles, gradually evolving into an exploration of constructivism and our own interpretation of west coast design, affectionately known as deconstructivism.

Compassion

Rooted in my core values is a deep sense of compassion, both for others and the environment. This compassion extends beyond the boundaries of design, informing my approach to every project. It's about understanding the impact of our work on people's lives and the world around us. Whether it's considering the accessibility of a website for users with disabilities or advocating for sustainable design practices, compassion guides every decision, ensuring that our designs are not only aesthetically pleasing but also ethical and responsible.

Innovation

At the heart of my design philosophy lies a relentless pursuit of innovation. Drawing inspiration from natural language forms and generative images, I leverage cutting-edge technologies like Midjourney and Chat GPT to push the boundaries of creativity. By exploring new ways of visual expression and embracing emerging tools and techniques, I strive to create designs that are not only groundbreaking but also resonate deeply with audiences, sparking curiosity and inspiring action.
